Projectors guide 2019
Purchasing guide 2019 projectors for home cinema: movies, football, television DTT, satellite, or if we need a projector for presentations for use in schools, institutes, driving schools, universities, audiovisuals we must have certain notions that we will summarize briefly in this text
Important information before deciding the purchase:
Buying a home theater projector can seem daunting. At any given time, there are many models to choose from, each with its own unique benefits and disadvantages and each claiming to be the "right" one. The key to simplifying the process is to determine what you need and then find projectors that fit your criteria.
To find the best video projector for your home theater, read on to answer these questions:
- What type of projector do you prefer?
- What resolution is best for you?
- What luminosity is adequate?
- How much contrast do you need?
- What connections do I need?
- How much will it cost?
These questions will try to summarize in the greatest possible simplicity to reach all users, we know that deepening the subject can cause the utmost complexity in the choice and finally and very possibly end up not successful in the purchase:
TECHNOLOGIES USED IN THE PROJECTORS:
LCD: are the signas (liquid crystal display) what we know in Spanish liquid crystal panel, is the best known in today's televisions in fact its use in projectors is not too far, this has the characteristic of not producing unwanted effects to the Unlike DLP projectors like rainbow (color trails when we move the head abruptly), LCD technology videoprojectors offer a faithful image as to color, definition and contrast reproduction, this technology has been used for more than 30 years and every day has evolved more offering nowadays rich images in definition and an unprecedented realism.
DLP: (Digital light processing) is a technology based on micro-mirrors that, through the light source and its color wheel, finally transmit the image to the projection screen. It is a technology patented by Texas Instruments, which creates it. produces the majority of brands on the market: Optoma, Benq, Viewsonic, LG, Seelumen, Xsagon, Vivitek, Acer, Luximagen, the advantage of this is that it can reproduce images of a higher contrast in some cases of more than 100,000: 1 that translates into a greater degree of color, in addition this technology has 3D capability in fact today's cinemas use high-end DLP projectors in their rooms. If it is true that DLP technology also has its disadvantages as the degradation of the DMD chip, rainbow effect in the most sensitive users. Even so, it is currently the most popular due to the cheapening of its technology
LCOS: (Liquid crystal on silicon) Technology much less used today was originally used in rear projection TVs is the least used currently in the projectors and the great unknown mainly for the high cost of its production and development.
TYPE OF LIGHTING AND SOURCES OF LIGHT:
As it is to suppose a projection is based on a main light source this can be a mercury lamp or one or several LED lamps the advantages of both are summarized below:
MERCURY LAMP: Originally for the projection halogen lamps were used mainly in the overhead projectors (OHP), this little by little evolved until the use of the mercury lamp as we know today, the choice of this type of lamp was due to its excellent color performance (6,500 degrees Kelvin) to reproduce a natural image without color changes, a lamp that has been used for more than 30 years and that is still the main light source of more than 80% of the projectors that are produced in the market. We talked about its advantages but what about its disadvantages? it is very simple mercury lamp has a limited duration, as any other source of light based on gas discharges has a degradation over time because in most cases it will not last more than 5,000 hours being currently makeup in 15,000 hours claiming modes of economic light, however the reality is very different since it is a source of light with its imposed limit of hours and the worst of all its high cost that usually means more than 50% or even 80% of the final cost of the projector when we need to change the lamp. As if all this were not enough lamps are usually treated as wear elements in the guarantees, so manufacturers usually offer 1,000 hours or 12 months whatever happens before. Another one of the disadvantages to add is its high polluting degree (only in case of explosion and having us contact with the lamp) and its high consumption from 200w to 1000w depending on the type of projector.
